Rapids Can't Capitalize on Chances in Loss to Seattle

Written by Emily Ainsworth on .

The Rapids came into last Saturday’s home match against Seattle on a two-win high following a 1-0 home victory over archrivals Real Salt Lake and the first road win of the season, also 1-0 over Chivas. Pre-match speculation said we could take an easy 3 points against the (then) still winless Seattle, but having been in Seattle’s position two weeks ago, we should have known a team fighting for their first win isn’t going to go down without a fight.

Catching Up With the Rapids and Previewing Rocky Mountain Cup

Written by Emily Ainsworth on .

Things have been a little crazy around here, so I feel like we’ve got some catching up to do. I want to do a quick recap of the first five games with my thoughts on some of the highs and lows before I get into what’s next and where we go from here.

Colorado Rapids 2013 Season Preview

Written by Emily Ainsworth on .

2012 was not a very good year for the Rapids. The optimism of a new coach bringing in a new system quickly faded into what may have been the longest footy summer of my life; it’s hard to watch the club you love fail to perform to what you think their potential is.

Rapids Try to Keep the Faith

Written by Emily Ainsworth on .

Hello, Rapids faithful (and bystanders watching the Pids like a horrific accident you just can’t look away from)! Greetings from the bottom of the table! It feels about as good down here as you’d think it would. For those of you that missed the most recent step in our plunge to the very bottom, I’ll recap it for you: we lost to Portland.

Rapids Becoming Not So Easy to Love

Written by Emily Ainsworth on .

Sitting down to write this article, Sinatra’s “You’d Be So Easy To Love” came up on my iPod. “You'd be so easy to love, so easy to idolize all others above,” he croons, and I couldn’t help but laugh and shake my head at the delicious irony of the timing; the Rapids are not so easy to love these days (and even that is an enormous understatement).

Rapids Turn Focus to Chivas

Written by Emily Ainsworth on .

When the Rapids headed to Dallas last week, I said I felt good about it. I felt so good about it, in fact, that I agreed to a friendly wager with an FCD fan, because I said the game was winnable; winnable or not, it wasn’t to be for the ‘Pids.

After Win Over Rivals RSL, Rapids Head to Dallas

Written by Emily Ainsworth on .

Although the Rocky Mountain Cup was already lost when the Rapids hosted Real Salt Lake last weekend, the Pids were in it for glory. At kickoff, the Pid Army dropped a 6300 square foot tifo and the terraces were filled with banners and flags honoring their club, winless in six games, and at the final whistle, the Rapids repaid their faithful with a 1-0 win over their archrivals, the first such result in the two clubs’ last eight meetings.

Frustrations Mount for Rapids

Sometimes, I sit back and think “man, it’s great to be a Rapids fan.” Now is not one of those times.

A Rapids Catch Up and July 4th Preview

Written by Emily Ainsworth on .

Anyone following the Rapids knows that the matches leading up to last Saturday’s meet up with Portland had not gone well. After expecting to come back from the (way too long) break rested and ready to take on Vancouver, and despite a solid effort in the first half, the Rapids ultimately fell 0-1 to a 10-man Whitecaps squad after a goal in the 80th from LeToux on the 16th.

Rapids Hit By Injury Crisis but Continue Winning

Written by Emily Ainsworth on .

Before I even dive into some highlights from this week’s action, I first need to apologize for the delay (come on, who WASN’T distracted by all this US Open Cup action!?) and also take some time to overview the injuries that have drastically depleted the Rapids’ roster and impacted Colorado’s effectiveness on the field (even if the final score says otherwise).
