Sounders Look to Find Their Form

Written by Brandon Boyer on .

Seattle has had the hardest run of form of all teams in the MLS this season. Still without a win, the Sounders will be looking to capitalize on a beleaguered Rapids side that has still been able to put it together this season.

Historically, Seattle has been the better side, winning seven, drawing one, and losing one. This season has been far from typical for the Sounders, though, so Saturday is bound to be interesting.

Not six months ago these two sides battled it out for the final Western Conference playoff spot. Vancouver was in flux at the time as coach Martin Rennie searched for the right squad to take Vancouver into the playoffs and the 2013 season. FC Dallas, six months ago, scrambled, clawed, and tirelessly fought for the final Western Conference playoff spot only to come up empty-handed.

Revs Hope Chemistry and Fans Will Drive Victory Against Red Bulls

Written by Seth Macomber on .

On Saturday, April 20th, the New England Revolution (1-2-2) will travel down I-95 to face the New York Red Bulls (2-4-2). The game will be played with heavy hearts since the Revs have recently faced two tragedies in the form of Kevin Alston’s chronic myelogenous leukemia diagnosis and the Boston Marathon bombings. Despite all of this, the club will hope to record their first ever win at Red Bull Arena with an increase in chemistry and the support of fans.

DC United's Woes Continue as the Red Bulls Handle Matters Easily at RFK Stadium

Written by Robert Moore on .

RFK Stadium was rocking on Saturday evening as DC United took on an also struggling New York Red Bull side.  Both the DC and New York clubs have had slow starts to their 2012/13 campaign and Saturday night proved another interesting contest.  First and foremost, from the first six matches of DC's season, the side have only claimed a mere two goals.  As their offensive woes continue to plague the nations capital, Ben Olsen must possibly look to a new system to engage all of their players in the match.  Credit to New York however, as Mike Petke offered forward a very sturdy effort from his men, whom capitalized on their chances which provided for a crucial three points.

Dynamo Break MLS Record in Win Over Fire

Written by Dustyn Richardson on .

On a warm spring day in downtown Houston the Dynamo entered the MLS record books. With a 2-1 win over the Chicago Fire the Dynamo are now unbeaten in 35 consecutive home matches, breaking Real Salt Lake’s record. The win didn’t come easy as the Dynamo scored first, were equalized quickly thereafter, and then scored the winner on somewhat of a fluke.

Six Points Separate Dallas From the Rest of the West

Written by Cory Jensen on .

Questions and a disputed title loomed over Saturday’s match against Los Angeles. Could Hyndman’s side claim, arguably, the biggest scalp in the Western Conference? Had FCD steamed to the top of the west and league with a favorable home schedule? Were thirteen out of eighteen possible points a product of luck rather than dominance?

Crew Earn Point After Weather Delay

Written by Matt Schwartzwalder on .

It isn’t often that MLS games in April are forced to be rescheduled because of snow, but the weather in Montreal had other ideas. The Columbus Crew was forced to wait an extra day in Canada as large snow snowfall forced the game to be pushed back one day until Sunday. Ironically, given the weather conditions, the Crew’s second game in Canada so far this year was against one of the hottest teams in the league, the Montreal lmpact. The Canadian team had picked up an impressive 13 points from their opening 6 games, and look like one of the surprises of this season. Going on the road in Canada has proven to be tough for most MLS teams, and this would be no exception for Columbus. The Crew has actually started well on the road this season, and bringing home some points from the Stade Saputo would be huge for the Black and Yellow.
