You can’t spell suspended without “upended,” which is precisely what this season has felt like. Shea, Benitez, Perez, Loyd, and Hernandez have all served suspensions this season. Ferreira, Villar, Shea, Ihemelu, Warshaw, Castillo, and Jacobson have all served or are currently serving time on the injured reserve. Zach Loyd and Brek Shea are tonight’s lucky winners, whose absences already compound growing crises within a Dallas squad in flux.

New York (7-3-1) makes its first trip north of the border to face surging expansion side Montreal Impact (3-5-3). Montreal, who is playing their last game on the terrible turf of the “Big O”, is still undefeated at home posting a 2-0-2 record there. New York is putting its four game win streak on the line against Montreal’s 4 game unbeaten streak.

Chivas USA host neighbors LA Galaxy this Saturday in what is unquestionably one of the biggest games in MLS…the Super Clasico. In the first of three meetings between the two sides in 2012, both Chivas USA and LA Galaxy come into this game on the back of a very interesting week indeed. While rivals Galaxy were doing their global image no harm by spending a day with The President at the White House, Chivas USA were busy with more serious business as they reshuffled their squad with some headline making trades. The build-up to any derby is always intense and with the supporters also playing their version of the game in the Barra Clasico (supporters’ group Super Clasico) on Thursday night the atmosphere of the game will no doubt be explosive. With both teams struggling so far in the 2012 season, all the signs point towards this Super Clasico being a definite classic.

With just a few days to rest, DC United will come back out to the pitch to face off against Eastern Conference foe Toronto FC. United is coming off a solid 2-0 win over the Colorado Rapids on Wednesday night in league play, while the winless Toronto FC drew Vancouver 1-1 which included an amazing golazo from Eric Hassli in extra time to deny the Reds a victory in the Canadian Championship Tournament.

Saturday night in New England, the Revolution's mission is clear: attack. Recent form for both Houston and New England suggests that our Revs can take this game from the Dynamo. The Revs are coming off of a win during which they scored four unanswered goals and then had a full week between games. The Dynamo played their first home game of 2012 Saturday, a 1-0 win, and then played again Tuesday night, a 0-0 draw. If Houston has a hangover from their stadium opening, what a great time for the Revs to get them at home.

I hope a select few enjoyed the shout out to Rush with the title. But it was true! Hamdi Salihi and Dwayne De Rosario both scored goals to give DC United the 2-0 win over the Colorado Rapids on Wednesday night at RFK Stadium. Bill Hamid also earned his second shutout of the season. The win places United back in the second spot in the Eastern Conference.

In what was a hectic and somewhat unexpected start to a Thursday morning, Chivas USA surprised many by pulling off some inspired trade dealings today. As per league and team policy, details of contracts will not be revealed, however, what we do know is the that Danny Califf of the Philadelphia Union and Juan Agudelo of New York Red Bulls are now on their way to Chivas USA. The Philadelphia Union has allowed defender Danny Califf to leave in return for Chivas midfielder Michael Lahoud while New York Red Bulls have accepted Heath Pearce in place of forward Agudelo. Both trades will also involve allocation money. Rumors of trades have been circulating for a few days now with many speculating as to whom Chivas USA were willing to let go in place of the potential reinforcements. However, after players and officials from both sides began tweeting about their impending moves, it seemed that the Rojiblancos were about to make some not only unexpected but exciting trades.
